I enjoy Hawaii when I visit, but don't want to go right now. I generally spend around $250 per day including hotel.

No, been there once didn't like it. For a week we stayed at the hilton hawaiian village on Oahu, for everything cost around $5,500 I like Aruba 110% better but you need a passport, that cost around the same!

Sure, why not? I've been there 4 times and enjoyed it.
How much money you need depends on how nice of a hotel you want to stay in, whether you get a rental car or not, and how much you eat out and where.
Normally, you would probably be looking at $150 to $200 a night for a halfway decent hotel. A nicer resort will run you more.
Figure on restaurants running a little more expensive than a comparable place on the mainland.
A rental car for 2 weeks will probably run you $750 to $1000.
