Why is so advantageous for people to mine cryptocurencies outside their own computers (via internet)?

    they don't have to pay for the electricity or wear and tear on the machine which costs more than the value of the currency

    mining typically requires high-powered computers.

    your average PC, used primarily for browsing the web, is not ideal for it.
