Question about ancestry?
Favourite answer:This is usually a very good thing, which you can take pride in knowing. Tracing back the generations would be interesting for yourself and other people to know about.

where does the surname "Wright" originate or which region specifically would find the most people with surname of "Wright"?
Favourite answer:Wright is an occupational surname originating in England. The term 'Wright' comes from the circa 700 AD Old English word 'wryhta' or 'wyrhta', meaning worker or shaper of wood. Later it became any occupational worker (for example, a shipwright is a person who builds ships), and is used as a British family name.

Why did George Harrison die in his home?
Favourite answer:He died at his friend Gavin DeBecker's home, not his own home.
With cancer that has spread, the doctors and the patient often know when death is near. Harrison had the means to have home hospice care, with skilled nursing services making him as comfortable as possible. I presume he chose this over dying in a hospital.
His friend, his wife, and his son were at his side when he died.

How do name changes effect family members? ?
The situation is: a child was given a different last name. Not mom's or dad's. It was an old family name maybe they were trying to preserve. Now, in mid 40s yrs old, wants to change last name to biological father's name. After all this time, of coarse, there are many documents, licenses & children with the birth name. Beside the document hassle, how would a spouse & the children be affected? Do they get some kind of rider to prove name change, next of kin?

I took a DNA test and it says 25% Ashkenazi Jewish so many unanswered questions?
I see Ashkenazi basically means Jews that are from Europe. I'm confused bc I thought Jewish was a religion unless you are of maternal descendant which I am not.
Are these European Jewish people technically Israeli people who migrated to Europe??
This is so confusing anyone educated in this who could clear this up??
It was my paternal grandfather who I know this came from.

How can I research my family lineage back to Moldavia?
My great grandmother told my grandparents that she was descended from the Bogdan family that ruled Moldavia for several hundred years, but she moved to the USA at a relatively young age and married my great grandfather. Her name was Mary Bogdan, and I know very little about her. I did find a Wikipedia site that made it look like the Bogdans died out, but Wikipedia is not a great source of information. Could she be a distant descendant? Where can I find information on her lineage? (I only speak English and Spanish, so I can't do research in any Eastern European languages.)

Can ethnicity results determine parent/child relationship?
Hi everyone.
I recently came across a man who I believe could potentially be my father. I want to state that I know nothing about this mans ancestry, just where in Europe he was born and raised. I recently took an ancestry test to see whether any clues in my ethnicity could help determine whether this man could be my father. But it does not seem to match where he was born and raised. However, I do have 300 relative matches from that region. Can ethnic results alone determine a relationship between parent and child? Thank you!

Why are aunts and uncles referred to by both their relation to you, as well as their name?
With other relatives, you only use one or the other. With grandparents, you only use their relation, or a variant of the word, and with siblings and cousins, only their name. So, why are both used when it comes to aunts and uncles?
