    Hello mate

Just do it. I'm emigrating to Perth this year, and I will be going under the "points" system. It's pretty well mapped out on www.immi.gov.au, which is the Aussie immigration website.

You could also think about taking SSI, which is State Sponsored Immigration, where an Aussie state or territory sponsors your application as a skilled migrant-this means you can bypass the points test, but there are criteria to fulfil. I'd recommend using a migration agent like Concept Australia; they aren't cheap, but the knowledge they have is totally invaluable, and if the difference between getting that all important permamanent residency visa and missing out is their fee, well...it's money well spent

Good luck mate, go for it

A lot of your options depend on your nationality and age. Most Europeans and Canadians under 30 can live and work in Australia and New Zealand for upto 2 years. While Americans can live and work in New Zealand for upto a year if you apply for the proper visa. They are pretty straight foward to get you just need to go to the right immigration website to apply for the visa. Americans also have a program with Australia but its only valid for 4 months.

Try contacting the Australian Embassy for immigration advice or maybe an immigration pack.

I think that if you have the means of supporting yourself and can acquire accommodation without putting any demand on the Aussie taxpayer any application will be favourably considered.
