how to run pc games in hd?

hi guys

i have a sapphire HD5750 which is connected to my acer H223HQ 22" monitor by hdmi.... however how do i run my games in HD ?

i currently have my resolution at 1920x1080.... however the problem is when i change to a HDTV resolution the visible screen reduces and the scaling options in catylyst control center cannot be used( greyed out ) .... however scaling works fine at 1920x1080 sd resolutions......

as you can see my knowledge of HD and HDMI is pretty basic ... so any help with this question will be much appreciated

1) how can i change to a HD resolution without borders on the picture....( scaling wont work when on HD )

2) how do run game in HD ( if i can ever get the monitor to run in HD )

many thanks

    It looks like an overscan problem in CCC - you need to set it to 0%.

    If you google "hdmi overscan problem" you'll see it's a problem not limited to ATI/AMD, nVidia has had an issue too.

    Add CCC to your search to narrow the selection to articles likely to solve your problem.

    I'm confused by your comment that scaling works with 1920x1080sd - I can't see why you would want to scale when your card and your monitor are both set to 1920x1080.

    If I were you, I'd be keen to get to the bottom of the flickering too, with the DVI connection - you need to find out if a component is defective before it's too late to exchange!

    I hope zeroing the overscan sorts the problem for you, please post your results - and comment the eventual fix, if this isn't it...

    Good Luck

    1920x1080 HD is the same as 1920x1080 SD (same number of pixels) Use the SD and scale it, the only difference may be the progressive for HD and Interlaced for SD. but I guarantee you won't notice any difference.

    1920x1080 = 1080p = FULL HD.

    In the game, go to options > video/graphics option > change the settings to high
