Should I pack up and re-locate to Austin.Tx?
I'm 22 and currently reside in West Virginia. With the unemployment right high and the drug/Meth academic at a staggering rate I keep on saying I need to find my place I'm passionate about. Creating art and playing music I'm still unemploymed and still unsure where I'm going can someone give me a logically reason that I should move to a so called bomming hip place and if I should consider moving to Austin than any other city 🌃

Before you make any decisions, you need to get some money together and apply for jobs in Austin. You can't rent an apartment if you don't have an income. It can take years to ever make a dime in art or music. You need to have a rational plan that includes a "day job" that will provide you with enough income and benefits to survive. I also question why you wouldn't consider Nashville. It is closer to "home" and the cost of living is lower.

Just moving to another place is not going to guarantee that you ever make a dollar in music. Me? Made every single dollar in our lives in live music, instruction, directing, teaching. Never worked one day in any other job. Granted, WV has terrible economy - and yet are people there
who STILL think Trump us going to bring back coal . . .geez . . .) so I can see you want to leave. But you need a REAL JOB to do that. Ours? We taught school for 30 years so we could retire early, all asking being very successful musicians. It is just about impossible to be a working musician now, unless you have a REAL JOB to pay all the bills. Get some legit skills that will get you employed - keep working at your music - but you cannot afford to move. Not yet. And there is no Magic Place for people in the arts. Good luck.

Yeah, I wonder why people actually want to stay in WV with all the economic problems, poverty, high unemployment and drug use -- when they have choices and opportunities to get out. In your case, Austin would be a good choice, but so would Nashville. Regardless of where you go, you should expect it not to be easy given that you want art and music as a career. You'll likely work in restaurants to survive while you try to build your career.
