When I had a coffee with a local it became obvious that they work extremely hard. The culture implies that on a Friday you go for drinks with your colleagues but you are not allowed to leave out of respect until your boss does and they can't leave until their boss does and so on and so on. People feel like a failure if they can't get a decent job or partner however these are issues that are felt everywhere.
