How do you tell which sight is the front and which is the rear? I just bought a foldable cheap sight for my gun and not sure which is front?

You bought sights for your gun? What kind of gun did you buy sights for? Obviously there are two major pieces. I`ll  admit it`s a bit confusing and 50-50 chance of getting them wrong(or right). Does one of them have a tiny hole? They must be clamp on. You know, the kind that goes on a picatinny rail. AR 15`s have picatinny rails but so do other guns. Is it a long gun or pistol? They`re both called guns in the urban areas. Urbananites use a lot of colloquialisms because most of them do not know nor do they care about proper nomenclature when it comes to guns and gun paraphernalia. I happen to be one that does to avoid confusion and it really helps communications.

So, you say cheap sights? How much did they cost? Do they have a manufacturer`s name on the package or did you toss it and the instructions right off the bat?

If, as mentioned earlier, one of those two items has an aperture then there`s a chance it goes in the position on the gun the closest to where your eye is when you plan to shoot it. Being a person like myself who takes chances I would install the leftover part close to the end of the barrel where the bullet goes out. Regardless of what it looks like just so it is not the part with a tiny hole in it.

Dang, it just occurred to me...they are what some refer to as iron sights aren`t they? I hope you aren`t talking about any of those laser beam sights or holographic sights because I don`t know jacksquat about either of them.

Have you considered the fact that you are so far down on the informational ladder, that it really doesn't matter how you install something you don't know how to use?

^ AR sights and one has a tiny hole. The other is shaped like a ring
