Is Raphe a good name for a child?

Update:

It AMAZES me that nobody has bothered to do a google, yahoo, or wikipedia search to see what a "Raphe" actually is.

    To "jass" -

The name "Ralph" in Britain is pronounced as it's spelt, I don't know where you got that from, perhaps because the name "Ranulph" is often pronounced "Raphe"?

    And it's an awful name.

The name Ralph, in Britain, is pronounced Rafe.

So no need for a crazy spelling like Raphe.

*EDIT*: I guess you're right, a little googling would have been smart, lol.

"The perineal raphe extends from the anus, through the mid-line of the scrotum (scrotal raphe) and upwards through the posterior mid-line aspect of the penis (penile raphe)"

    And apparently, it's "RAY-fee" everyone.

    *ORIGINAL POST*:

Raffi is a famous Canadian childrens singer. I guess I don't mind Raphael with the nickname Raphe but it also reminds me of the movie Hook with the character Ruffio for some reason.

    I've heard worse :)

    Good luck!

Its personal taste at the end of the day. Personally I would not name my child Raphe but do like the name.

I like Raphael, would Raphe be a short form?

Depends on what you think, really. But in my opinion, I wouldn't name my child Raphe.

i love the name raphael,it is a common name for each generation of my family.

And the female equivalent Raphaelle is my second name (i'm french)

Raphe is more of a nickname, like Gabe for Gabriel.

But i like it, it's sweet!

I like the name spelt Raef but that is assuming it is pronounced Ray-f. It is very posh sounding but I quite like it.

    Raef Alexander

    Raef Oliver
